3J-TVT Industrial bus technology
With the help of the industrial bus technology training equipment, the installation and use readiness of the industrial bus technologies used in the distributed control systems of modern automation is practiced. The equipment consists of a control center module that controls the actuator modules via a fieldbus (AS-i or Profibus / AS-i).
After completing the tasks the student is able to:
- outline the structure of a distributed control system implemented using the AS-i and / or Profibus fieldbus
- identify different types of bus components and master the concepts associated with them
- master the connection of signals related to the communication of AS-i and / or Profibus bus types to the various bus components
- build a fieldbus application into a functional entity using automation drawings and manufacturer’s data pages.
Training equipment structure:
The training equipment can be assembled modularly from the control center modules and separate actuator modules according to the training needs, either as a mere AS-i bus training equipment or to comprise both Profibus and AS-i bus solutions in the same training equipment. The control center module comprises the logic and bus components required by each fieldbus application with the necessary software and interface cables. The AS-i actuator modules, which are of two different types (pneumatic module and DC motor module), can be connected to the system either independently or as a single unit.

The AS-i pneumatics module includes:
- cylinders (2 pcs.) and solenoid valves (conventional and AS-i component) as actuators
- Sensors include magnetic and mechanical limit switches and bus-connected “smart” AS-i switches, inductive and optical
- the required bus interface components with versatile operating switches on the control panel.
The AS-i DC motor module includes:
- DC motor-driven (24 VDC) toothed belt conveyor and electrically operated pneumatic cylinder
- optical and magnetic limit switches as sensors
- the required AS-i bus interface components
- control panel operating switches.
Profibus + AS-i actuator modules, which are also available in two different types (DC motor module and AC motor module), can also be connected to the system as a separate or integrated unit.

The Profibus- + AS-i DC motor module includes:
- as actuator DC motor-driven (24 VDC) toothed belt conveyor controlled by separate amplifier unit –
- 10V… + 10V control signal and pneumatic cylinders (2pcs) controlled by electric group valve
- optical and magnetic limit switches as sensors
- the required bus interface components
- with control panel operating switches
. Profibus-+ AS-i -AC motor module includes:
- AC motor-driven toothed belt conveyor (controlled by a parameterized frequency converter with bus interface) and electrically controlled pneumatic cylinder
- optical and magnetic limit switches as sensors
- the required bus interface components
- control panel operating switches.
